In 2012 we have at least three active nests of the Harpy Eagle (Harpia harpyja) good for birwatching in Brazil, one in Pará and two in Mato Grosso state. This magnificent Eagle is the world's most powerful raptor, females being able to kill a full grown Howler or Spider Monkey at 19 pounds (9 kilos)! Main prey items are sloths, Capuchin, Saki and Spider Monkeys, agoutis, opposums and larger game birds.
